FOR OUR GUESTS

In General:

The entire cabin will be yours. Please make yourself at home and enjoy the serenity. If you need anything during your stay, don’t hesitate to ask! The property manager does live about 25 minutes south in Georgetown and is happy to help when needed.

Feel free to check in anytime after 3pm the day of your reservation.  Please be checked out by 10am. This allows our cleaning team to get the place ready for the next family coming to enjoy our lovely cabins. If you need early or late access to your cabin, please contact the property manager for availability.

Gopher Wood Getaway:

There is one bunk room with 3 beds. One queen.  One full with one twin on top. We do provide sheets and bedding for your stay. We do not offer daily cleaning service. If you should need extra bedding, just let us know. There is also a Euro sleeper in the living room. The bedding for this is kept in the closet in the bedroom or under the futon in the living room. We keep a cot in the closet as well. But we do not provide bedding for it. Feel free to bring you own bed roll.

The bathroom in the Gopher Wood Getaway has one standing shower, a sink, mirror and toilet. We will provide enough towels for every person listed on the reservation. This includes a bath towel, hand towel and washcloth. Again, we do not offer daily cleaning services. If you should need any new towels during your stay, please let us know. Please note that our cabin is on septic system. Please do not flush anything down the toilet other than the provided toilet paper. Please place all sanitary products in the trash provided. Our septic system can not handle anything unusual other than the provided septic safe paper.

We do provide paper products for your stay (This includes a starter roll of paper towels, plenty of toilet paper for your stay and a box of tissues.)

There is no TV or wi-fi available at our Gopher Wood Getaway.  Most cellular providers work fine from this cabin. So your cell phones should be sufficient should you need to access the world. We also do not have a landline in the cabin. It truly is a “getaway” location.

We do keep some games, cards, activities, books and toys in a small cabinet and under one of the bunks in the bedroom. The kids will be a treasure trove of activities under the beds in the bunk room and hidden in other locations around the cabin.

We have an AC/Heat unit in the main living room. There are ceiling fans in each main room. We also leave a space heater in the closet during the winter months in case you need more heat in the bedroom. In the summer months, we keep a fan in the cabin. Please use as needed to keep comfortable.

The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, kitchen utensils, plates, bowls, oven, range, sink, etc. We keep a crock pot in the pantry so dinner can be ready when you return from your day. Everything you need to make meals should be found in the kitchen cabinets. If you find yourself needing something you can’t find, just let us know. Our refrigerator is full size but is not connected to water.  Bring your own ice.  Ice should be available at both gas stations off the exit to the cabin. (This is subject to change).  We keep a Brita filter in the refrigerator.

There is a great outdoor space with a lovely view. We keep plenty of camping chairs in the deck box. Feel free to spread out and enjoy the space. Simply return the chairs to the deck box on the porch before you leave. We have a small fire pit and we do have firewood provided for a donation. You will want to bring want to bring some kindling and matches/lighter. We do not provide these in the cabin due to safety reasons.  There is also a park style grill that uses charcoal and some grill tools in the cabin pantry closet.  We do keep charcoal in a box on the porch, but we ask guests to bring their own lighter fluid and matches.  Again, safety and insurance will not allow us to provide them.

Charis Cottage Cabin:

The Charis Cabin is a 2 bedroom vacation home with a full kitchen and bathroom.  It also has a washer and dryer guests can use during their stay.

The sleeping arrangements in the Charis Cabin are like this.  A bunk room with two twin bunks to sleep 4.  (250 lb weight limit on the top bunks).  A second room with 2 queen beds.  A small loft with 2 bed rolls/camping mats.  We provide bedding for the 8 beds.  If you want to use the bed rolls, please bring your own sleeping bags.  (We also have an option for a queen sized air mattress/cot for an extra fee).

The bathroom in the Charis Cabin has a shower/tub combo, a sink, mirror and toilet.

There is no TV or wi-fi available at our Charis Cabin. In fact, due to the rural location there is no wi-fi available in this area. The Charis Cabin is also located on the lower part of the Siloam Valley Campus.  For this reason, cell reception can be sketchy.  Most guests simply walk or drive up the hill to be able to use their phones.  We also find that newer phones work better to find reception than older versions.  AT&T and Verizon get the best service.  And all other cellular carriers work if you simply drive 150 yards up to the higher part of the farm. It truly is a “getaway” location.

We do keep lots games, cards, activities, puzzle, books and toys in the cabin.  And the loft has been turned into a playroom for the kids.  This will be the kid's favorite part of their Charis experience.  And the adults will love having a separate space where they can and visit while keeping a close ear on the kids above.  The entrance to the loft is a ladder so please climb at your own risk.  And children under 12 really need to be supervised closely as they enter and exit the loft.

We have an AC/Heat unit in both bed rooms. There are ceiling fans in the main room. The cabin is well insulated and stays comfortable. In winter months will keep a space heater  in the living room for extra heat.

The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, kitchen utensils, plates, bowls, oven, range, sink, etc. The owner is a fabulous cook and made sure the kitchen was fully stocked for when her family came to enjoy the cabin.  You will have everything you need to make meals.  We keep an instant pot and crock pot in the cabin to make mealtimes fast and easy after a long day. The refrigerator is full size and has filtered water and an ice maker.  Enjoy the Kuerig coffee maker (starter pods provided).

The Charis comes with a washer and dryer. Please use HE detergent only.  Our check our procedures do request that you go ahead and start the first load of towels or sheets before you leave. So we do provide a few laundry pods for you. Feel free to use the washer and dryer as needed for your personal laundry during your stay.

Our front porch is 48' of country bliss.  Sit and rock while enjoying the sun set.  In the back we have a patio area with gas grill and picnic table.  There is also a side gravel patio where you can enjoy a fire pit. Do do keep a few camping chairs in the deck box.  Please return them when you are done.

Add Ons:

We do have some Add-ons available to use during your stay.  You can visit our store for details.  Rent a telescope, stroller, fishing poles/tackle, family movie night projector and MORE! Click HERE for details.

Wildlife & Nature:

Our cabins are located in Owen County which is the deer mecca of the state adjacent to a nature preserve. If you sit quietly on the porch in the mornings and evenings, don’t be surprised if you find deer very close to the front porch.  Depending on the season, wild turkey will roam the nearby by fields. And plenty of birds to enjoy as well.

Guests have full access to the stocked lake, hiking trails and 85 acres of adventure.  You'll find a farm map in your cabin house book when you check in.  Keep in mind there could be snakes, snapping turtles and other critters hanging out.  We have never seen any poisonous snakes on the farm.  But a bite is still a bite.  We also have pesky plants like poison ivy & Virginia creeper growing.  If you are prone to skin irritations from these plants, we encourage you to stick to the mowed trails.  Dawn dish soap as bath wash will remove irritating oils if you bathe within 30 minutes of contact and we keep some in the cabins.  Chiggers and ticks are the pesky insects to watch out for as you explore the farm.  We keep bug spray in the cabins but it's a good idea to pack some of your preferred insect repellent.

NOTE: We are NOT responsible for any unwelcome wildlife during your stay.  We do our best to keep our cabins clean and safe.  However, we can not control the outside wildlife and refunds will not be given for wildlife that might try to stow away with you on your vacation.  Do your best to keep food cleaned up.  And DO NOT EAT in the bedrooms.  This helps us keep unwanted "visitors" out of the cabins.
