AROUND SILOAM VALLEY

Although most of the guests who stay with us are going to the Ark Encounter or enjoying some of the many amenities our farm has to offer, there are lots of great things to do in the area within an hour's drive of the cabin!!  If you are looking to add a night or two to your stay to make a great vacation, please consider some of these other FUN venues nearby!  We've listed some for you, BUT a "family friendly things to do" search for Louisville KY, Lexington KY and Cincinnati OH will give you a ton MORE!!

ARK ENCOUNTER & CREATION MUSEUM

Northern and Central Kentucky are packed with places to go and great ways to spend a day.  The nearest attraction to our Siloam Valley Cabins is the Ark Encounter.  Ark Encounter features a full-size Noah’s Ark, built according to the dimensions given in the Bible. Spanning 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high, this modern engineering marvel amazes visitors young and old.  Another popular nearby venue is the Creation Museum.  This state-of-the-art gallery allows you to venture through biblical history, stunning exhibits, botanical gardens, planetarium, zoo, zip line adventure course, and much more. This 75,000-square-foot facility has welcomed millions of guests since opening.  

Feeling adventurous? Paddle your way through the mine in a kayak on this unforgettable one-hour tour. Make your way through the darkness as our expert guides lead the way illuminating the unique features of the Gorge Underground. There are new discoveries to be made around every corner of this one-of-a-kind mountainside cavern.

The Zoological Society of Cincinnati was founded in 1873 and officially opened its doors in 1875, making the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden the second oldest Zoo in the United States. Today, the Zoo showcases hundreds of animals, insects, and plant species.  Many of these rare animals are endangered, so plan your visit and help a critter.

The fishing scene and waterfall views at Lake Cumberland never disappoints.  Lake Cumberland also has 129 campsites with utility hook-ups available with 3 service building supplying showers and restrooms. Enjoy Lake Cumberland fishing, boating, swimming, hiking and more in one of the best Kentucky state parks!

Hike the scenic trail to Natural Bride or ride the skylift. The Red River Gorge area is known worldwide for its climbing scene and many trails.  Don't forget to eat at Miguels Pizza!  Enjoy square dancing at Hoedown Island or hike Henson’s Arch or tour the Natural Bridge Cave.

From the big thrills of Orion, Diamondback and The Beast to the little thrills in Planet Snoopy, Kings Island has the kind of fun you are looking for in a place where the fun never ends!

Plus, with 36 water slides, two wave pools, rushing rivers and relaxing lagoons, you can catch some waves or just catch some rays at Soak City Water Park. It's your tropical getaway to enjoy your way.

Built in 1791 the Cane Ridge Meeting House is one of the oldest church buildings remaining in Kentucky.  The church was the site of the large frontier revival in 1801. Guests can visit the museum  and gift shops.  They can meander through the grounds where the Holy Spirit fell over 200 years ago.  Enjoy some thoughtful worship or contemplation in the pews of the old church building or stand in the pulpit area where leaders of the pioneer church once stood. 

If you’re looking for that special place to take your family, friends, group or just need a day for yourself to experience true horseback riding  (NOT in a ring, a circle, or a backyard view, but on acres of scenic beautiful trails appropriate for all experience levels) then you must experience riding at Whispering Woods Riding Stables!

We offer miles of trails on over 250 acres!  Our trails are heavily wooded with hills, creeks, lots of beautiful hardwood trees, and wildlife.  Deer, fox and turkey are often spotted on our trails. Our trails are suitable for beginners but challenging enough to be interesting for more experienced riders.

THE KENTUCKY HORSE PARK

Visit the International Museum of the Horse, the Breeds Barn, Big Barn, or Hall of Champions. Recent host of the World Equestrian games, this is a great place for the horse lovers in the family!

OUTLETS OF THE BLUEGRASS

The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass is a 366,750 square feet outlet mall located near Interstate 64 in Simpsonville, Kentucky. The mall opened on July 31, 2014. Anchor stores include Old Navy, Nike, Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and American Eagle Outfitters.  They are a little over an hour from the cabins.

CINCINNATI MUSUEM CENTER

Home to the Cincinnati History Museum and the Cincinnati Children’s Museum. This place is really cool and well worth the drive for the family.  A very well done Children’s area and lots of cool history about Cincinnati including a replica of 1860 riverfront life, frontier life, and what life in Cincinnati was like during WWII.

TAFT MUSEUM OF ART

A fine art collection occupying a 200 year old home that is the oldest domestic wooden structure in the downtown area.

Perched long the Ohio River in downtown Cinti,

this museum celebrates heroes of the Underground

Railroad.

  The American Sign Museum is dedicated to the art and history of commercial signs and sign making. The American Sign Museum is proud to be the largest public museum dedicated to signs in the United States! Covering more than 100 years of American sign history in 20,000 square feet of indoor space, the museum is a walk through the ages of technology and design.
